The world

Every hill hides somewhere to go

The world is generated from a seed, and each one is built to feel designed: villages with market squares, farmsteads with fields, windmills on the rise, lighthouses on the lakes, blossom groves, old ruins and stone circles that lead into dungeons.

  • Towns and villages

Timber-framed houses, inns, chapels, market halls and stalls, with townsfolk going about their day.

  • Dungeons and ruins

Standing stones, crumbling towers and old sites mark the way underground, where tougher creatures wait.

  • Farms and landmarks

Farmsteads, windmills, watermills, lighthouses, waterfalls and hot springs, each visible from afar and worth the walk.

  • A world per seed

Type any word as the seed and the game grows terrain, rivers, towns and creatures from it. Share the word, share the world.

These pictures come from earlier development captures. New captures of the current world and interface are still being prepared and reviewed.

Creatures

Big eyes, bold shapes, all of them catchable

The current bestiary lists 103 creature kinds: small companions, great kinds and colossi. Catch with nets, grow your party and discover evolution and inherited traits. The field guide records each kind and its habitat.

  • A fire fox with a flame crest and bright yellow eyes. Canine
  • A round pink and purple frog with huge green eyes and a small smile. Frog
  • An onion-shaped sprout creature with two green leaves on its head. Sprout
  • A floating turquoise jellyfish with one big eye and pastel tentacles. Jellyfish
  • A bright green fawn with leafy ears and pink eyes. Cervid
  • A blocky crystal golem with golden horns and glowing yellow eyes. Golem
  • A little orange octopus with a headband and striped tentacles. Octopus
  • A chubby olive-green rodent standing upright with big blue eyes. Rodent
  • A small purple serpent with green antennae, sticking its tongue out. Serpent
  • A tortoise with a round red shell and a friendly cream face. Tortoise
  • A purple spider with long striped legs and big pink eyes. Spider
  • A brown bear cub with lightning markings and blue eyes. Ursine

Raise them, and they grow

Evolution keeps a creature's identity and adds to it: bigger flames, new crests, sometimes wings. Evolution crystals help a matching companion along.

  1. Fire fox, first stage. Stage 1
  2. Fire fox, second stage, with more flame tufts. Stage 2
  3. Fire fox, final stage, with a full flame crest. Stage 3
  • Catch

Creatures roam in the open, so the next catch is always in view. Weaken one, pick the right moment, throw.

  • Battle

Turn-based battles with elements, moves and status effects. Train your team against wild creatures, dungeons and friends.

  • Breed

Pair two companions and hatch something new. Genes carry over, so looks and traits run in the family.

Towns and people

Market day, every day

Towns are busy: merchants at their stalls, guards on their rounds, neighbours chatting by the well. Make your own anime traveller, then shop, rest at the inn and chat with the people you meet.

Multiplayer

Bring your friends. Keep your server.

Host a co-op journey in the game or run a dedicated server. Explore, trade and challenge friends with a matching game version. Persistent MMO worlds use their own server and account setup; public realm availability depends on the operator.

Easiest

Host from the game

  1. Open Multiplayer and choose Host, or open Together during your journey.
  2. Friends on your network see your world. Friends elsewhere use Direct Connect with your address.
  3. On your first visit, offer companions, items and coins to create your server profile. Later visits use that profile; your offline journey stays separate.

Always on

Run a dedicated server

The Linux dedicated server runs the native player without graphics. Its capacity depends on the host and the world; measure before inviting a large group.

./AnimaSky.x86_64 -batchmode -nographics -server \
--name "Our world" --seed "meadow" \
  --players 8 --port 5000

Game traffic is UDP, port 5000 by default. Forward it for players outside your network. Everyone needs the same game version.

Our hosted server

The hosted server's address appears here while it is set up. Until then, host a world yourself: it takes one click.

Mods

Add your own creatures

A mod is a folder with a mod.json: new creatures with stats, moves and looks, new biomes, and optional glTF models. Modded creatures join the roster and appear in the wild.

  • Turn mods on and off in the Mods menu; your choice is remembered.
  • Open Mods Folder takes you straight to where they go.
  • Mods are data only. The game reads JSON and the assets a mod lists, and runs no code from them.

Questions

Good to know

Is AnimaSky finished?

AnimaSky is in development. The current source includes new quests, explorer gear, legends, homes and shared activities; parts still await a published playthrough. Check the guide for limits and the dated news for development checkpoints.

Does it cost anything?

No. AnimaSky is free, with no shop. You install it through the free renner.dev Launcher; a renner.dev account is optional.

Is there a Mac or Linux version?

Native player packaging supports Windows, Linux and macOS on Intel or Apple silicon. Use only a package actually offered for your platform. Phone and tablet players are future targets.

Do I need to be online?

No. Single-player works fully offline. You only need a network to play with others.

Why does my computer warn me when I start it?

Signing and notarization depend on the release. Use the official package and compare it with the supplied SHA-256 checksum. Read that release’s security notes before allowing an unfamiliar application.

How do I play with friends?

One of you opens Multiplayer and hosts; the others join, either from the list on the same network or with Direct Connect. Everyone needs the same game version. For a world that stays up, run the dedicated server.

Are mods safe to install?

Mods are data, not programs: the game reads a mod's JSON and the models and images it lists, refuses paths outside the mod's folder, and never runs code from a mod.

Does this website track me?

No. No analytics, no cookies, no third parties. Fonts and images are served from this site, and the only other things the page asks this site for are the download list and the server address. Your language choice is kept in your own browser.
