Player guide

Welcome to AnimaSky. Explore a seeded world, catch creature companions and make a home between your adventures. This guide covers the current development source. Beta: downloads may contain an older version; the opening campaign, underground travel and newer online activities still have rough edges. Read the prompts in your build and keep a save backup before updating.

Each chapter explains the feature, its controls and a practical tip. Bindings below are defaults; remapped controls and the current input device change the prompts.

Start, title and a new journey

What it is

The title screen offers New journey, Continue, your saved journeys, Settings and Mods. A new journey has its own slot, world seed and explorer. The character creator lets you shape your appearance before choosing a starter companion. Continue returns to an existing journey rather than creating another world.

How to play

Extract the whole offered archive and open the supplied native executable. Choose New journey and an empty slot, enter the seed and follow the creator and starter screens. Use the mouse or arrows/left stick and Enter / south face button to select; Esc / east face button goes back. In the creator, R / north face button randomizes, U / west face button undoes, and F / right-stick press frames your explorer.

Tips and limits

Keep the files supplied beside the executable together. The same seed recreates a layout only with the same generation code and compatible mods; an update can change it. There is no browser player. Beta: do not treat an available title button or a news checkpoint as proof that an entire campaign is finished.

Appearance, wardrobe and equipment

What it is

The creator shapes your explorer and outfit. At camp the wardrobe revisits your appearance and name; earned regional outfits can become available there. Explorer gear affects your own journey and is separate from a companion’s held item.

How to play

At camp open System > Journey > Wardrobe, edit the offered body, face, hair, clothing and palette controls, and confirm to apply and save. Cancel keeps the old appearance. Rotate the preview with the right stick or Z/C, and use Page Up/Down for its vertical view. In Bag, inspect explorer equipment and choose its offered equip or remove action.

Tips and limits

Check equipment bonuses and requirements before replacing gear. A cosmetic change does not reset your story or companions. Beta: inspect the preview carefully; clothing presentation is still being refined.

Saving, Continue and backups

What it is

Journey slots store your explorer, companions and progress. The journeys screen supports loading, saving, renaming and deleting slots. Autosave can save during a journey; online progress belongs to the server profile.

How to play

Open System > Journey with Esc / Start, choose Save and wait for confirmation. Return to the title to choose a different journey; Continue resumes the available saved journey. Enable or disable autosave in Settings > Gameplay; the Journey page reports its one-minute interval. Slot deletion and replacement require confirmation.

Tips and limits

Back up the whole per-user player-data folder before updating. On Windows the default is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\AnimaSky\AnimaSky Unity; journey files are under UnityPort, with settings at the data root. Install updates in a fresh folder and retain the previous build until Continue works. Do not run two clients writing to the same journey folder. Server backups are separate.

Movement and default controls

What it is

Movement follows the camera's direction. Keyboard/mouse and gamepad use the same actions, with separate exploration, menu, battle and placement contexts. Gamepad face buttons are described by position, so you can match the game's own symbols.

How to play

ActionKeyboard / mouseGamepad

Mount / dismount an eligible companionRRight-stick press
Dive / release a climb or glideLeft CtrlLeft trigger

In menus, use arrows, the left stick or D-pad to move focus, Enter / south face button to confirm, Esc / east face button to go back, and Q/E / shoulders to cycle tabs. Keyboard shortcuts: P Party, J Journal, M Map, K Workshop, N Together, O Friends; H Base and B Breeding at camp.

Tips and limits

Auto-run keeps moving forward until toggled off or you press backward; menus, scripted travel and loss of focus cancel it. It does not choose a safe route. Rebind supported keyboard and gamepad actions in Settings > Controls; conflicting bindings swap within their context. Pointer controls and recovery navigation stay fixed. F opens Fight in battle; use E and the field prompt to start encounters.

Camera and menus

What it is

The third-person camera orbits your explorer, adjusts near obstacles and follows indoor spaces. The quick wheel and menu rail connect your party, bag, journal, map, workshop, home activities, Together and System.

How to play

Move the mouse or right stick to turn the view; use the wheel or shoulders to zoom. Adjust sensitivity, invert-Y, camera distance and automatic centering in Settings > Controls; field of view is a graphics setting. Open Tab / Select, choose a wheel entry and confirm. Open Esc / Start for the Journey page. The key that opened a menu page also closes it; another page's key switches pages.

Tips and limits

A control can have a different purpose in another context: shoulders zoom outdoors, change tabs in menus and rotate a building during placement. Read the bottom prompts when a screen changes. Keyboard page shortcuts do not fire while you type in a text field.

HUD, compass, minimap and world map

What it is

The HUD shows companion health, your interaction prompt, tracked guidance and movement resources. The compass points towards goals; the minimap shows nearby surroundings. The world map combines terrain, discoveries, settlements, dungeons, ruins, landmarks, camp, home and special encounters. Undiscovered sites may appear as question marks.

How to play

Open M or Map through the menu. Drag the map and use the wheel or zoom buttons; on gamepad pan with the right stick and zoom with triggers. Keyboard map pan uses I/J/K/L, zoom uses minus/equals. Inspect a marker for details, toggle marker categories or the political view, and use the center button to return to your position. Place a map waypoint with P / west face button. Outdoors, middle click sets a waypoint and Q clears it. Minus/equals changes minimap zoom outdoors.

Tips and limits

A marker is information, not a teleport button. Waystones and travel stations have their own discovery and booking rules. Hide or show the minimap, compass and quest tracker in Settings > Interface. Beta: a cold map can fill in progressively; a blank patch is not evidence that no location exists there.

Quests, story and guidance

What it is

The Journal's Now view connects the main story, local requests and companion growth. Residents tell local tales; boards offer bounties. Quests have steps, requirements and rewards, and can name a particular creature or place rather than any similar target.

How to play

Talk with E / west face button, accept an offered request and open J / Journal to read and track it. Follow the indicated step and claim the completed reward; linked chapters can wait for that claim. In Settings > Gameplay, choose Standard, Explorer or Guided guidance. Standard uses search areas, Explorer leaves more discovery to you, and Guided can show exact targets. G / D-pad up, or Lead the way in the Journal, asks a healthy lead companion to guide you towards the tracked goal.

Tips and limits

Read the target identity before fighting a bounty creature. Accepted tales cannot be abandoned. Companion guidance respects broad search goals and can fail when no usable path exists. The first home-realm Crest lifts companion growth from its initial level-15 cap to 25, releases banked experience and opens caravan and sky routes. Beta: the complete opening realm, castle finale and final apex trial are still being finished.

Finding creatures and field encounters

What it is

Creatures live in habitats suited to their body and ecology. Biome, danger, hour and weather shape what you meet. Great kinds and colossi are distinct encounters, not simply every small creature grown larger. A nearby creature can be caught in the field or challenged in battle.

How to play

Explore different habitats, approach a visible creature and read the prompt. Use E / west face button for the nearby encounter when it is the current interaction. Aim towards a target and press C / left click / right trigger to throw a field net. Trainers are challenged through their interaction and dialogue choices. Keep a conscious companion available.

Tips and limits

A resident or gathering node may take priority over a creature in reach. Move until the prompt names the intended target. Nets are consumables; replenish them in shops or through crafting. Observe before rushing in: water, cliffs and stronger regions can make a retreat harder.

Battles, elements and status

What it is

Your companions fight on an action timeline. Moves differ in element, strength, accuracy and time cost; speed and status affect when a creature acts. Creatures can have one or two elements. The combat guide explains matchups and elemental reactions rather than asking you to memorize them all.

How to play

When your companion can act, choose Fight and a move, Guard, Dodge, Gather, an item, Switch, Catch or Run. F / north face button opens Fight; 1–4 select the listed move slots. On gamepad, navigate and confirm the onscreen choices. Guard softens the next blow and restores stance and focus; Dodge spends focus to evade a hit, but cannot evade a sweep. Gather restores focus and some stance. In Items, bait uses a berry to slow the enemy and help capture until its next action. Read focus costs, enemy intent and projected turn order before committing. Settings offers battle speed, animations and auto-battle.

Tips and limits

Poison and burn hurt over actions; burn also lowers attack. Paralysis slows actions and can stop one. Sleep stops actions until waking, and a damaging hit can wake a sleeper. Freeze can thaw; confusion can make a creature hurt itself. Soaked is a setup for further reactions. Use the combat guide and current status icons. Medicine use has battle limits, and trainer companions cannot be caught. Prepare a varied team and heal before another fight.

Arena, ratings and tournaments

What it is

The camp arena offers rated matches against generated trainer teams, tournament brackets, rank placement and season history. This local competition ledger is separate from online player duels.

How to play

Return to the camp clearing with a healthy lead and open System > Journey > Arena. Find a rated match or continue the current one; defeat each trainer companion in sequence. Open Tournaments to inspect signup dates, entry fees and brackets, register while entries are open, and play your scheduled round at camp. The same arena screen opens the leaderboard and past seasons.

Tips and limits

Trainer creatures cannot be caught. Read placement progress, current match and calendar notices before leaving; forfeiting is a loss. Beta: opponents in this arena are generated trainers; its leaderboard does not prove a live human matchmaking service.

Capturing with nets

What it is

A successful net turns into a woven charm and adds a creature to your collection. Different nets have different modifiers or affinities. Capture chances also depend on the target's remaining health and how much stronger it is than your companions.

How to play

Throw a net outdoors with C / left click / right trigger, or choose the net option in a wild battle and select a net you own. In battle, read the listed chance and any capture restriction. Weaken the target without defeating it, then make the attempt. Capture requires space in your collection and a usable net.

Tips and limits

A failed throw still costs a net. Do not assume a normal net works on trainers, a distant colossus or a locked apex phase. Legends use their own final-phase ritual. Keep more than one net type, and leave room before a long expedition.

Party, companion care and evolution

What it is

Party records your companions' health, moves, elements, growth and individual traits. A lead companion accompanies your journey. Bond grows through battle and care; evolution needs both level and a creature-specific trial, with a crystal required for some later growth.

How to play

Open P / Party from the wheel or menu, select a companion and inspect its health, moves, growth requirements and inherited body traits. Choose the lead, use owned healing items and manage its held item. Read the evolution requirements: trials can involve bond, habitat, night, weather or dangerous lands. Accept an offered evolution, or hold it and request it later through the growth controls. Rest through camp services to recover the party.

Tips and limits

A fainted companion cannot help with field traversal or lead the way. A companion's held charm or harness is separate from your explorer's equipment. Banked experience at a story cap is retained. Check the exact trial rather than expecting every companion to evolve at the same level.

Breeding, eggs and DNA

What it is

Breeding combines inherited traits from two companions into an egg. The pairing preview shows likely traits and the resulting family; hybrids can inherit different body features. Eggs incubate during played exploration time, and hatching adds the new companion and its family to your journey.

How to play

At camp open B / Camp > Breeding, choose two different companions of at least level 5, inspect the pairing and choose the egg action. Keep exploring until its timer finishes, then return and choose Hatch. The same page lists rescued eggs and their available actions. Party's inherited-trait details let you inspect inherited traits without editing them.

Tips and limits

Leave collection and egg capacity available. Companions away on expeditions are excluded from pairing. Beta: the camp's local breeding UI is implemented, but do not assume it is an authoritative online breeding service; support depends on the current server actions. Save confirmation matters before relying on a new egg or hatch.

Companion traversal and explorer growth

What it is

Companions can help you climb, glide, ride and dive when their anatomy, bond and your story licences qualify. These are field skills, separate from transport rides. Explorer Rank and three perk paths improve non-combat exploration, while equipment can support stamina and traversal.

How to play

Keep a healthy eligible companion with bond rank 3 in your party. Climb needs one Crest, glide two, ride three and dive four. Face a climbable surface, move forward and hold Jump to climb; press Jump again while falling to glide. R / right-stick press mounts or dismounts on suitable ground. Left Ctrl / left trigger dives in water or releases a climb/glide; Jump rises in water. Open Explorer Rank through the menu to inspect rank, available points and perks. Use Bag equipment controls for owned gear, appearances and dyes.

Tips and limits

Watch stamina and breath, and land before they run out. Riding needs a sufficiently large eligible body and room to mount and dismount; not every creature is a mount. Winged back gear can allow gliding without a companion. Rank has story caps and retained experience. Beta: traversal, gear fit and device performance still need release-by-release review.

Items, gathering and shops

What it is

Your Bag holds usable items and equipment; Workshop tracks crafting materials. Plants, ore and other registered gathering nodes provide materials. Companion gathering descriptions explain what a species produces or how it assists. Town vendors and camp supplies sell useful goods, and regional trade can offer different prices and stock.

How to play

Approach a gathering node and use E / west face button when its prompt appears. Open I / north face button for Bag, select an item and use its available action. Talk to a merchant with Interact, or open camp Supplies/Materials, choose the item and quantity, then Buy or Sell. Compare the shown price, owned count and capacity before confirming.

Tips and limits

Save space for healing, nets and quest materials. General stores replenish essential potions and woven nets daily. Beta: a decorative crop or tree is not automatically a harvest node; use the interaction prompt, not appearance, to tell what can be collected. Server-owned gathering and trade need a live session and approval.

Workshop, stations and cooking

What it is

The Workshop connects known recipes, materials, stations and crafted quality. Workbench, forge, loom, alchemy, cooking and tamer's bench recipes make different outputs. Recipe learning can come from books, artisans, experiments and rare materials. Cooking is part of the station-based crafting system.

How to play

Open K / Workshop, choose a recipe and inspect its ingredients, quantity, required station and expected output. Stand near the appropriate installed station when required, then choose Craft. Learn an available recipe through its offered action; cooking uses the same ingredient and station checks. Install crafted stations or furniture through your home's Base controls.

Tips and limits

If Craft is disabled, check recipe knowledge, materials, station proximity and output space. Read quality and provenance before spending rare ingredients. Online crafting waits for the server; do not treat a pending request as a completed item. Beta: not every visible fireplace is a usable cooking station.

Camp, home plot and building

What it is

Camp is a service hub and your base can become a regional home. Structures include a house, storage, workshop and garden. Furniture, stations and decorations customize the plot. Home controls support claiming, expanding, storage and creature displays; online homes also have visitor permissions.

How to play

At camp use Interact or H / Camp > Base. Read the plot controls, claim a suitable plot when offered, select a structure or decoration and enter placement. Aim the preview at clear ground, rotate with Q/E / shoulders, place with Enter / left click / south face button / right trigger, or cancel with Esc / right click / east face button. Interact with a built structure to inspect it, upgrade, install furniture and stations, move furniture with its buttons, or set a creature display.

Tips and limits

A rejected preview names the problem: plot bounds, slope, occupied space or cost. Leave paths and doors clear. The Base overview shows stored coins, potion crates and production; choose Collect before storage fills. Better comfort and happy, varied habitats affect home bonuses. Beta: house presentation and online visits still need playthrough review; guild-hall interiors are unfinished.

Habitats, ranch and expeditions

What it is

Ranch habitats give caught companions a place at home. Their happiness and habitat variety contribute to base production. Home expeditions send a spare companion to a charted region for materials, eggs or clues, while you keep your lead with you.

How to play

Choose Habitats at camp, place a habitat using the building controls, then assign a caught companion. Use Feed with a berry, Decorate, Upgrade or Remove resident on the habitat page. At your plot with a house, open Expeditions, select a discovered region, an eligible spare companion and a duration, then Send. Return home to claim a finished trip and hatch a returned egg when space is available.

Tips and limits

A lead, fainted companion, habitat resident, displayed companion or creature already away cannot be your expedition crew. Expeditions use their shown return clock; breeding eggs use played exploration time. Check the home's stored-output capacity before collecting. Beta: online home operations depend on supported server actions and can reject an invalid request.

Towns, NPCs and regional life

What it is

Settlements belong to countries with local names, styles and heraldry. Residents have routines, conversations and services. Merchants, artisans, trainers, quest givers and travel keepers offer different interactions; not everyone is a shop.

How to play

Approach a person and use E / west face button, then choose a dialogue or service option. Advance text with the onscreen controls; Space / west face button reveals a dialogue line. Inspect boards and signs, look for shops and route stations, and use Map's political view to understand the surrounding country.

Tips and limits

Check a person's current prompt and return at another time if they are moving or busy. Regional vendors can have their own goods and prices. Treat stairs, doors and interiors as physical routes. Beta: settlement access and dialogue coverage are still being refined; an ornate building is not a promise of a complete interior service.

Caravans, sky travel and waystones

What it is

Caravans follow roads, windbird rides connect roosts, and airships link capitals. Stations become destinations after discovery. Waystones are a separate free fast-travel and recovery network.

How to play

Visit a station, talk to its keeper with E / west face button, choose an unlocked discovered destination and check the fare and travel time before booking. Caravan and windbird routes need the first Crest; airships need the Sky Seal. During a ride use the Skip prompt (Space / Enter / south face button) to reach the destination directly. Discover a waystone by visiting it, then select an available stone in Map's waystone list.

Tips and limits

Discovery does not replace a required licence. Paid online bookings must be made at the station and are checked by the server. A personal waypoint is only a direction marker. Heal and save before long travel. Beta: arriving terrain and underground routes can still need time to become ready.

Dungeons, ruins and the undercity lift

What it is

Dungeons contain linked rooms, guardians, bosses, chests, seals, puzzles and hidden passages. The undercity is a settlement below the surface, reached by a descent or freight lift rather than an ordinary world-map jump.

How to play

Approach a dungeon mouth: walk through a walk-in entrance, or use E / west face button when the entrance requires interaction. Inside, use the same interaction action on chests, guardians and mechanisms. Read rune and seal clues; clear the actual boss chamber for a dungeon contract. At an undercity lift landing, use Interact to call the cage if it is absent, step into it when present, then use the up/down ride prompt. Stairs provide the physical route where available.

Tips and limits

An entrance visit is not a boss clear. Sealed chests can require guardians, a boss or a puzzle first. Keep medicine, a varied party and an exit route ready. Beta: dungeon navigation, undercity walking and lift loading are known rough areas in development; save before entering and do not force movement past a readiness prompt. Private party instances and distinct raid presentation are not a completed mode.

Colossi, legends, apex lairs and rare lands

What it is

Colossi are giant encounters with phases and breakable parts. Legends have local rumours, clue chains and shrine trails before their culminating encounter. Apex lairs contain their own challenges and capture restrictions. Rare lands and mythic realms are unusual discoveries; a world need not contain every wonder.

How to play

Read rumours and tablets with Interact, follow their Journal steps and investigate the marked or hinted places. Prepare the required team and traversal access before returning to the lair. In battle follow the phase and part controls shown by the encounter. A personal legend is captured once per player through its final-phase break ritual; a group echo is a repeat challenge, not another personal catch.

Tips and limits

Retreat and break progress have encounter-specific records, so read the clues before trying again. Your first Crest opens the first legend rumours but does not waive the encounter's own requirements. Mythic realms are exceptionally uncommon. Beta: these encounters, their presentation and end-to-end story links still need published-player review; the final realm-apex trial is unfinished.

Fishing and the waterbody log

What it is

Fishing is a timed activity at real water. Its saved log tracks catches by waterbody. A successful reel can yield a fish item or draw an already nearby swimming creature into an encounter.

How to play

Stand on a clear bank facing nearby water, open Fishing through the menu and choose Cast. Keep the tab open. Choose Hook when the bite appears, then use Reel five times close to zero on the countdown. Three mistimed pulls lose the fish. Select the screen buttons with mouse or menu navigation and Enter / south face button; Cancel stops the attempt.

Tips and limits

Do not cast while swimming, through an obstruction or far above the water. Leave Bag space for the catch and wait for its save confirmation. The world may be paused, but the fishing countdown still runs. Beta: fishing is currently unavailable while the server owns your progression; use a solo journey.

Photography, poses and the album

What it is

Photo mode gives you a free camera, filters, lens controls, framing and nearby creature poses. Photography requests ask for particular subjects or conditions. The Photos page keeps an album and a selected home picture; these records are separate from a plain screenshot.

How to play

Enter with F2, the quick wheel's Photo entry or System > Journey > Photo. Tab / north face button switches panel/camera control; move with WASD / left stick, look with mouse / right stick, rise or descend with E/Q / right/left trigger, and boost with Left Shift / left shoulder. H / Select hides the panel, F12 / right shoulder captures, and Esc / east face button backs out. Choose a pose or filter in the panel. Open Photos to inspect request progress, select an album image, delete it or take another.

Tips and limits

Frame the requested subject clearly and check the request conditions before capturing. Wait for the written image and album confirmation before quitting. Photo mode restores the previous camera and poses on exit. Beta: online request credit depends on the server; an image in your local album alone is not proof of an online reward.

Research, records and achievements

What it is

Research collects species evidence and shows research rank. Its records distinguish sightings, catches, observed behaviour, evolution and special morphs or environmental conditions. The Journal also holds records, achievements and discoveries, so progress is broader than the next story fight.

How to play

Open Research through the menu, page through species and read which evidence is recorded or pending. Observe a species in its habitat, catch it, evolve a companion and investigate special forms or weather conditions to fill the relevant evidence. Open J / Journal and inspect its records and honours. Research shows when creature lures become available. Open Explorer Rank through the menu to inspect your rank and choose available path perks.

Tips and limits

Different evidence types matter more than repeating one activity. Read the pending line instead of assuming another catch completes every research rank. Beta: current research rows may prepare while the page is open; let the list finish before concluding your species is missing.

Weather, time, seasons and festivals

What it is

The journey clock moves through dawn, day, dusk and night. Weather changes the atmosphere and can affect ecology, encounters and evolution trials. Seasons and their festivals follow the calendar; special skies and seasonal encounters are not always active.

How to play

Watch the clock and weather as you explore. Read night or weather requirements in evolution, quests and photo requests, then return when conditions fit. Open Together > Multiplayer > activities for scheduled events, festival games and daily/weekly goals. Select an event, Join when eligible, travel to its location and use the displayed participation actions; select an offered role for group challenges. Read contribution and score, then Claim earned rewards. Leave withdraws participation. Daily/weekly goals and guild goals have their own Claim buttons. Activities can also offer solo progress; online schedules use the server's clock.

Tips and limits

A full journey day takes about 30 real minutes while its clock advances; menus and other pauses can change how much real time you wait. Normal play does not need time or weather cheats. Claim completed activity rewards explicitly. Beta: event population and presentation are still developing, and an entry in the calendar does not guarantee a finished spectacle at every location.

Graphics, Smart GPU and settings

What it is

Settings separates Graphics, Audio, Controls, Gameplay, Interface, Language and Accessibility. Graphics offers display mode, resolution, pacing and manual quality controls. Smart GPU searches for settings for your machine and chosen target frame rate, with a result you can review before accepting.

How to play

Open Settings from the title or System > Settings. In Graphics choose manual controls or enable Smart GPU; enabling it alone does not start a check. Choose the target and press the start button when available. It visits eight scenes over a few minutes; loading may take longer. Your saved settings stay until you accept the result. Manual options cover quality preset, anti-aliasing, shadows, ambient occlusion, creature and fur detail, textures/filtering, distances, fog, foliage, grass, townsfolk, water, clouds, particles, bloom, motion blur and depth of field. Reset graphics to preset restores that preset's choices.

Tips and limits

Manual rendering keeps native resolution; optional reconstruction settings are available only where the current mode and device permit them. Use the row's help and availability message rather than expecting every option on every machine. Interface controls light/dark appearance, UI scale and individual HUD layers; Language selects text and voice languages separately. Accessibility offers color-vision modes, high contrast, subtitles and their size, dialogue auto-advance, reduced motion and screen-shake controls. Gameplay contains autosave, difficulty, guidance, world-cache storage and battle preferences. Beta: Smart's estimate is not a performance guarantee for all adventures.

Audio, voices and language

What it is

Audio has independent master, music, effects, ambience and voice volumes, plus dynamic-range and surround choices. Voices can be Full, Babble or Off. Full dialogue uses an optional local voice pack; readable dialogue remains on screen.

How to play

Choose System > Settings > Audio to adjust volumes and voice mode. Choose Language for text language and the separate voice language. Install an optional downloaded voice pack in the player's user-data Voices folder according to its instructions and restart; supplied packs ship with the release. Turn subtitles and dialogue auto-advance on or off in Accessibility.

Tips and limits

Without a supported pack or spoken line, Full falls back to babble. Pack availability depends on the release and language; local synthesis does not promise speech for every line. Beta: use text and subtitles when a voice is absent or unfinished. Lower voice volume without muting important effects if that is more comfortable.

Multiplayer, LAN and persistent worlds

What it is

Together connects hosting, direct/LAN joining, friends and shared activities. A server owns its profiles, catches, trades and rewards; your offline journey stays separate. A persistent-world connection additionally depends on the operator's account and realm services.

How to play

Open N / Together > Multiplayer. Host with a session name, UDP port (default 5000) and player limit, then host and join. Guests use Direct connect or a discovered LAN server; 127.0.0.1:5000 reaches a host on the same computer. LAN discovery uses UDP 5001. For internet hosting, allow the selected UDP port through the host's firewall/router. Everyone needs the matching game version. On first joining, the server creates your profile from the offered journey; later visits use its saved profile. Use O / Friends for supported friends/presence controls and the available party, chat and trade options in Together.

Tips and limits

Stopping the host ends the session for everyone. Party leaders manage shared tracking and pins; present nearby members can help objectives, but each player claims their rewards and earns their own Crests. Daily/weekly goals, finder invitations and guild goals use their shown controls. The player Exchange is restricted to persistent-world capitals. Beta: these online flows still need a published multiplayer playthrough; private party dungeons, dedicated event populations and guild interiors are unfinished. This guide does not promise a running public realm, and friends/account functions depend on its configuration.

Chat, trades, duels, groups and the Exchange

What it is

The multiplayer tabs expose players, chat, trades, duels, co-op parties, guilds, activities and leaderboards. Friends and presence depend on account services. The Exchange offers player item listings in persistent-world capitals.

How to play

In Together > Multiplayer > Players, select a player and choose the offered invite, whisper, trade or challenge action. In Chat choose a channel, type and Send. For Trade, stage companions and item quantities, submit the offer, inspect both sides and confirm the current revision; changing an offer requires fresh confirmations. Accept or decline duel requests and select your team in Battle. In Party invite or leave; use the leader’s tracking controls. In Guild create a name/tag, accept invitations and use role-permitted member or message controls. In activities, the finder lets you register an activity/role, invite a listed player or withdraw. At a capital, Exchange lets you set item, quantity and price, list, buy or cancel; collect sale proceeds explicitly. Leaderboards show their current category and season.

Tips and limits

Check the final trade contents and Exchange fees before confirming. A party invitation is different from a friends request or guild invitation. Online menus can reject stale offers, insufficient stock or permissions; wait for server confirmation. Beta: end-to-end social and persistent-world flows remain under playthrough review; no public realm availability is promised.

Mods and compatible journeys

What it is

The Mods page manages installed content, enabling, disabling, searching, filtering and reload. Enabled content loads before the title reads journeys and can change creatures or world generation. Details expose dependencies, loading errors and available creature previews.

How to play

Open Mods from the title or System > Mods, inspect a mod's details and dependencies, then enable or disable it. Install content according to the package's folder instructions and use Reload to rescan. Use a creature Preview when offered and read errors before loading a journey. Keep compatible packages on clients and server before joining.

Tips and limits

Back up first and keep compatible content on clients and server. Changing enabled mods can change a generated world and companion data; use a separate journey when experimenting. Beta: a valid mod package does not prove every custom creature, item or biome has complete gameplay or presentation.

Help, reports and the developer console

What it is

The game's prompts, Journey controls legend, combat guide and settings help are the first reference for your installed build. Bug reporting can capture the current scene. The console and Developer diagnostics belong to development builds; the public release player does not include them.

How to play

Open System > Journey for controls and Report when available; F6 opens the report flow in development or captures a local bug report in a release. Include version, seed, exact steps and what you expected. In a supplied development build, F1 opens the console; use /help to list commands and /where to record your position for a report. No console command is required for ordinary progress.

Tips and limits

Keep reports reproducible and review screenshots, logs and saves before sharing: they can contain player names and world details. If an action is unavailable, check story licence, station, location and server mode. Beta: use read-only help/location commands for diagnostics; cheats and teleportation can bypass normal conditions and are outside this gameplay guide.
